On Sunday, June 9, at approximately 3:16 PM, WSAR was activated for mutual aid to Oswego County Pioneer SAR for a missing 71YO with a history of dementia. WSAR units were on scene at approximately 3:57 PM. State Police K9 located the subject in good health around 5:00 PM. Members from WSAR, Oswego County Pioneer SAR, NYS Forest Rangers and NYSP used a single-wheel litter to carry the subject out of the woods to an awaiting Menter Ambulance for evaluation. WSAR units were in service at 6:12 PM.
This was great teamwork between all agencies. We had a debrief at the end of the incident to discuss how to make it even better next time.
Thank you to all volunteers that dropped what they were doing on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to assist in this search. Your dedication is much appreciated!
